Information for Cuyahoga Community College PSEOP Families

SIGN-UP

Cuyahoga Community College's application deadline is 30 days before the term commences. However, if you wait until the deadline, it is unlikely that you will get everything done in time. Here is the usual sequence of events.

This process may take around 45 days to complete, so it is good to start as early as possible. Rehoboth Academy encourages parents and students to begin the application process by March 1 of each year. The college is very willing to work with families to get your children enrolled. If you have signed up late, don’t be discouraged; take the process as far as you can. You never know what will happen. And if you can’t for some reason start in the fall you will be all set for spring semester. Don’t give up.

Before you leave the Cuyahoga Community College counselor's office, you should receive another 'Authorization to Attend form' for the following semester. You need to file that, as you will fill it out for the following semester when the new schedule becomes available. It will need to be signed by your Rehoboth Academy counselor. You will need another appointment with the college counselor to sign it and register for the next semester.

Registration

Fall registration usually begins as early as May (online) and June (in person). Spring semester is done in October and November. When you finish your first year as a post-secondary student, it won’t be to early to look at what classes you will take the following year.

Bookstore

When your student goes to the bookstore for the first time to purchase their books they need to go to the counter (glass case) on their left after entering the store. At the counter they can ask for their 'authorization of funds for post-secondary'. They will need their ID and this authorization to purchase their books. If they are not in the system then you will have to wait or purchase them and fill out a paper for reimbursement; This form is available from Marge Knight. The later you complete the registration process, the more likely this will happen.

It is not recommended to purchase books ahead of attending your first class. The teachers don’t always use what is listed on the forms.

As a PSEO 'B' student, you are entitled to anything on the syllabus that is listed as required for the course without expense to you. All books must be returned at the end of the semester or you will receive a bill for them. Some other items may not need to be returned. If in doubt, ask. The college will send a form before the end of the semester for the book return. You will fill it out and return it with the books.

Counselors

The two counselors that are dedicated Post-Secondary for ALL schools are Larry Dorazio (DAH RAZ E O) not (DOOR a z e o) and Patti Sweeny. Their job requires that they visit public high schools attend meetings in addition to counseling. It’s not like they have 24-7 to schedule appointments. They are both very nice and great people. If you call Tri-C and have any questions or need to schedule an appointment, you can cut through the menus by dialing Marge Knight’s extension: 5155. If she doesn’t answer, just ask for her. She will be the one to schedule appointments and can tell you if Larry and/or Patti are on campus that day. She will also give you their voice mail if you would like to leave a message. Marge is very helpful.

Criteria For Admission

Tri-C’s criteria for admittance to the Post-Secondary Education Options Program:

If you do not pass the Math placement test for example, you may not take any math courses under the Option B guidelines. You may however take remedial courses under Option A and you may do so simultaneously. Once you take and pass these courses, any subsequent courses are paid for under Option B.
